On his Facebook page, Stephen Amell has released a dark new Arrow Season 5 trailer which should give an indication of what we can expect from the early episodes of the new season, which starts October 5 on The CW.

screen-shot-2016-09-28-at-12-50-51-pmThere’s so much inside – including our first look at Dolph Lundgren’s character. What else do we see? Hmm. (And yes, screen captures will come later)

  • Thea tells Oliver that “putting killing back on the table is a huge step back,” right after we see a clip of Green Arrow doing just that. “That’s not what she would have wanted!” she says.
  • “The dead don’t want anything,” Oliver tells Thea, and then we see some clips that are reminiscent of the events of the show’s very first episode.
  • In between some Green Arrow action shots, we see Oliver fighting in Russia. We also see him getting initiated into the Bratva, claiming he has no family, no home, and no name.
  • Oliver gets shot on the steps of City Hall.
  • “It’s not pain that breaks people,” Chad Coleman’s Tobias Church says. “It’s fear.”
  • There’s talk about the new team, and we see characters including Wild Dog, Evelyn Sharp, Curtis Holt, and Ragman. “They’re inspired by you. Because of you!” Felicity says. All four try to take on Oliver in training, and another training sequence shows Diggle back in the action!
  • The salmon ladder is back! But this time, Oliver has a shirt on.
  • Quentin Lance is looking at a sharp and deadly looking arrow head.
  • John Diggle in military fatigues!
  • Felicity is kissing someone… and it does not look like Oliver.
  • Evelyn Sharp and Wild Dog are walking with… Prometheus?!?? Or is that Ragman? We’re not 100% sure.
  • “The Green Arrow is mine,” Prometheus says.
