In the wake of the Supergirl promo shot, Stephen Amell recalls the first Arrow photo. Stephen Amell Recalls The First Arrow Promotional Photo

arrow2Yesterday, Warner Bros. Television and CBS released the very first promo shots of Melissa Benoist as Supergirl, from the Supergirl TV project that comes from Arrow folks including Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, Glen Winter, and Sarah Schechter. You can find those photos here.

The photo release had Stephen Amell posting on his very popular Facebook page, recalling a time when the first Arrow photo was released… and people might have had a different reaction to the picture, if a certain something hadn’t been noticed.

You can read Stephen’s take on things below, including the revelation that the first Arrow pic (and the early releases of photos since then) was in response to the disastrous response to the first Wonder Woman photo from 2011. (That project ultimately didn’t happen, surely and at least partly in response to that initial impression, which had people already snarking about things.)

Our thanks to Stephen Amell for sharing this story, and for having an awesome Facebook page in which he keeps in touch with his fans. And remember, you can find those Melissa Benoist Supergirl photos at our newly-relaunched KryptonSite!
