Season 5 Cover Countdown: Ragman #4

Every year on GreenArrowTV’s Twitter feed and Facebook page, we’d count down to the new season’s premiere with a classic Green Arrow-related comic book cover. After all, it was the comic books that inspired the TV series to begin with.

Since there had sometimes been confusion about the covers without any context — this year we’re going to describe the comic book covers that we are showing. The issue numbers on the comics will correspond to the number of days left before Season 5 begins. For example, there are only 4 days left until Arrow Season 5, considering The CW has announced an October 5 premiere date. We’re almost there!

Here’s today’s entry.

Ragman #4

Today’s classic comic book cover comes from the legendary Joe Kubert, one of comics’ all-time greats. But as you can see, it doesn’t feature Green Arrow, Black Canary or any other character we usually know from Arrow! What gives?

That’s because this character is one of several we will meet in Season 5 of Arrow, likely starting with the season’s second episode, “The Recruits.” Ragman (Rory Regan) in the Arrow world will be the only survivor of Havenrock. Playing him is Joe Dinicol, an actor who has done a lot of great work but to us will be thought of as one of the best parts of the way-too-short-lived L.A. Complex.
