Season 5 Cover Countdown: Green Lantern/Green Arrow #86 Season 5 Cover Countdown: Green Lantern/Green Arrow #86
With 86 days to Arrow Season 5, we look back at a Green Arrow comic book classic. Season 5 Cover Countdown: Green Lantern/Green Arrow #86

Every year on GreenArrowTV’s Twitter feed and Facebook page, we’d count down to the new season’s premiere with a classic Green Arrow-related comic book cover. After all, it was the comic books that inspired the TV series to begin with.

Since there had sometimes been confusion about the covers without any context, this year we’re going to describe the comic book covers that we are showing. The issue numbers on the comics will correspond to the number of days left before Season 5 begins. For example, there are 86 days left until Arrow Season 5, considering The CW has announced an October 5 premiere date.

Here’s today’s entry.

Green Lantern/Green Arrow #86

The “socially relevant” Green Lantern/Green Arrow series by Denny O’Neil and Neal Adams comprised one of the most critically-acclaimed runs of the Green Arrow character in the comics. In a controversial story, with Part 2 being GL/GA #86, it was revealed that Roy Harper had become a junkie! Drugs are bad mmkay. This drug story as well as an Amazing Spider-Man story from Marvel changed the regulations of the Comics Code in how drug use was portrayed in comics. Definitely a classic.

You can purchase the O’Neil/Adams GL/GA collection here.

86 days are left to the Arrow season premiere – be sure to come back daily for more countdown posts! Past “Cover Countdown” posts can be found here.
