Arrow PrometheusWere you surprised that Adrian Chase was Prometheus?

CRAIG: Confession time: I actually wasn’t. I was accidentally spoiled months before the reveal, though I admit when I heard it, I wasn’t sure how it would work out, and I assumed Chase was still going to be the Vigilante. Even when Prometheus unmasked revealing Chase, I wasn’t that shocked.

Then I saw what an evil bastard Chase was once it was all out in the open. Josh Segarra – a super nice guy when not on camera – really did the sadistic thing well, and created a villain that you love to hate. Adrian Chase out in the open was much scarier than the guy in the mask. So, him being so awesomely evil was certainly a surprise; the identity of Prometheus, however, was not.

STEPHANIE: I fell behind on watching the show and had it spoiled quite a while before I actually saw the reveal, so I missed out on any potential shock.

MELISSA: Yes and no. Initially, I was convinced Chase was Vigilante and while less certain, I had Pike pegged as Prometheus, but when we ended up seeing both parents of the “son of Claybourne” neither were black and since he was supposed to be the secret illegitimate son, I assumed Prometheus probably hadn’t been adopted. Then when previews for episode 514 showed Vigilante targeting Mayor Queen for covering up Billy Malone’s death, I realized it no longer made sense for Chase to be Vigilante since he’s been the one to instigate the cover up. So a couple weeks before the reveal, I flipped my guesses and decided Chase had to be Prometheus.

MATT: Kind of was and kind of wasn’t. I was from the perspective that Adrian Chase in the comics is the given name of the best known version of Vigilante. By including Vigilante in the season, they worked in an appropriate fake-out that made the reveal on the roof pop really well. At the same time, the fact that Josh Segarra was a regular cast member for the season — and their penchant for deception by those closest to Oliver — leaned towards this kind of outcome. Still, revealing Adrian by going up against Vigilante in the episode was a fun dodge.
