Was there ever a different romantic possibility for Stephen Amell‘s Oliver Queen on Arrow, aside from Felicity Smoak?

Stephen Amell has given that what seems to be a definitive answer.

“In our show, it was Oliver and Felicity, and it was going to be them no matter what,” Stephen said at the Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in Portland, Oregon this weekend.

We’re assuming that choice came after Emily Bett Rickards’ first appearance as Felicity in the show’s third episode back in 2012.

Sorry, Laurel, Sara, McKenna, Helena, Shado, Susan, and Slade. You never had a chance.

I mean, no offense to anyone, but that feels like a slap in the face to the comic book fans. Maybe I’m missing some of the context here? I just wanna know what he would say to the fans of the comics that we’re hoping for that iconic Green Arrow/Black Canary romance. Once again, cuz I can feel them coming, I’m not hating on anyone. I just wanna know.

What? No apology to Barry? He’ll be heartbroken.
