Stephen Amell recently headlined a Q&A at the Heroes & Villains FanFest in New Jersey, and among other things, he implied that Oliver will be smiling more in the show’s upcoming sixth season which premieres on October 12.

“It’s a strange thing. Oliver actually this season is a very contented individual,” Stephen revealed about the season’s earliest episodes, at least. “At least so far. Methinks that will probably change, based on just 120-some episodes of history. But I’ve seen three episodes and he’s smiling a lot more….. It’s nice as an actor to not be a stick in the mud all of the time,” he continued.

(Can it be safe to assume from that quote that that means those closest to him survive the blast on Lian Yu?)

Other tidbits:

  • Stephen could not recite the Season 6 “My Name is Oliver Queen” voiceover intro because it would be a big spoiler that would get him in “so much trouble.”
  • It sounds like the rest of the cast ensemble has had more to do this year, allowing Amell some much-needed time off. “That’s just kind of where the story is this year and I’ve really enjoyed it,” he said.
  • We will get a new suit in Season 6, and there will be a new “trick arrow” used in the upcoming 4-part crossover between the DC Arrowverse shows.

Arrow returns October 12 on The CW.
