Arrow/Flash Spinoff Speculation: Is “Mystery Hero” Jason Rusch?

It’s been a few weeks since we heard about the characters in the upcoming, still-untitled Arrow/Flash spinoff, where they’ve already got The Atom, a character played by Caity Lotz, Martin Stein, Hawkgirl, Captain Cold, Heat Wave, and Rip Hunter among the cast.

Most of those characters’ identities have been revealed, but we still don’t know about the “Mystery Hero,” who is described as “an African-American male in his twenties will fill the role of a regular, street smart guy who unexpectedly gains powers, and then, as part of the team, regularly quips about the insanity of the situations.”A lot of guesses point to the young man being Black Lightning or Static, but here’s an idea… what if it’s Jason Rusch, the other other half of Firestorm?

Now, it might be strange that they’d be casting the role, if they are, since Jason appeared in Episode 10 of The Flash as played by Luc Roderique. But who knows… maybe they’d want a bigger, more well-known name for the part? Sometimes that happens when spinning off a series, at times going back to The Jeffersons, Knots Landing and Maude. Or… is the reason we haven’t heard of casting because the role was already cast, with Roderique in the part?

But if that is the case, what about Ronnie Raymond?

There’s been a lot of talk that Victor Garber is part of the spin-off as Martin Stein, but nothing at all about Robbie Amell participating in the spinoff as Ronnie. Robbie’s actually reported to be doing a movie with Kevin Spacey soon, and all of the talk about Flash’s Caitlin facing tragedy soon makes us worry for him too. So, could Jason be coming in as a Ronnie replacement?

Please be aware that this article is purely speculation and at this point, we know nothing solid about this “mystery hero.” But, if it pans out, you read it here first. Jason Rusch is an important part of the Firestorm legend, and if anyone but Ronnie should be bonded to Professor Stein, it’s this guy.
