DHullshot1After weeks of speculation, we finally know who will be playing Barry Allen, the forensic scientist who will eventually become The Flash, on three episodes of Arrow’s second season and, hopefully, his own series to follow next season.

And now, in news simultaneously first broken by TVGuide.com and  The Hollywood Reporter, we know: Barry Allen will be played by Grant Gustin, whose previous credits include Glee. Gustin was tipped earlier this week as being one of three finalists by Latino Review, and Gustin was the top choice in the poll on our FlashTVNews website. Filming for the first episode to feature Barry Allen will start on September 30.

This is how Warner Bros. Television describes the character, who will be appearing in episodes #2.8, #2.9, and #2.20:

BARRY ALLEN is a Central City assistant police forensic investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past.  A comic book fan boy, Barry is obsessed with the Arrow unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante.

Look for his first Arrow episode later this year, and to follow Flash TV developments, be sure you’re also following our FlashTVNews Twitter feed! And hey, Oliver: If you happen to tick Barry off, be sure he doesn’t throw a slushie in your face.
