How long do you think it will be before Ray Palmer starts shrinking?

MATT: So, they already mentioned the white dwarf star material found in that mine Felicity helped Ray purchase. In the comics, that’s what gives him his shrinking abilities. They’ve really been playing coy with this, though, which makes me think they aren’t going to have Palmer himself shrink. At least, not on Arrow.

What if, instead, he discovers the ability to shrink and enlarge the various items he uses on the A.T.O.M. suit? That would fit Starling City a bit better. Then, perhaps as a tease, toward the end of the season he slips up and discovers he can do it with the whole suit and himself.

13296DEREK: I’m in the camp that we won’t see him do it on Arrow, but he will on The Flash. But at the same time, he’s so ingrained in this show that it might be a bit of a cheat. So I don’t know. Shrinking, much as I love that power set, seems even more fantastic than what we’ve seen thus far even on The Flash, so I wonder it will really work on Arrow yet. The DCwU has been careful with keeping the tones of the two shows seperate, but Ray is a wild card. It seems like he’s going to be an Iron Man/Blue Beetle type of character for a bit until he gets to that point, either way.

CRAIG: I think it ultimately depends on when the costume is actually finished. I agree with everyone who has said they wouldn’t be surprised if the actual costume and shrinking happens on The Flash. Maybe – like you said, Matt – they’ll borrow from Hank Pym and have Ray shrinking other things before he shrinks himself.

STEPHANIE: I’m wondering, since (as far as we know) this is Ray’s first version of his suit, if it does something we are not expecting. As we’ve seen a few times before, getting the character to a place where he or she dons the costume is one journey, and evolving into a more mature version closer to the comic book character is another journey entirely.
