Josh Segarra plays Adrian Chase who — spoiler warning! — will be revealed as The Vigilante in tonight’s episode of Arrow, which is titled, appropriately enough, “Vigilante.”
(We didn’t spoil you: That’s a factor from the comic books from 30+ years ago, when the character was created by master storytellers Marv Wolfman & George Perez)
We spoke with Mr. Segarra at the Arrow Episode 100 “Green Carpet” a few weeks ago, soon after Adrian Chase made his first appearance on the show. As we didn’t know much about Chase at the time, Segarra promised us that “each episode we get another piece of the puzzle” of his character.
In our short carpet interview, Segarra talked about joining the cast and how he did some research on The Vigilante character from the comics in order to “start the journey correctly.”
“Of course I had to do my research. Any good actor would,” he said, before pointing out that he “can’t wait” for fans to see “Vigilante.”
“I have a bunch of sketches that I’ve let influence what I’m going to do with it, so when you finally get to see who he is, it’s very exciting,” he says.
Segarra won’t say what his role is in the four-show crossover, and he’s not sure if Adrian Chase and Laurel Lance may have known each other in the past. “I don’t know if they actually did [know each other],” he said. “Since we have the same position, I’m sure I did a lot of research about her and what she had done in the city. I think that’s probably as far as it could go, but I don’t know if they had any history themselves.”
And is Chase aware of Oliver’s double life? “We know that Chase ends up being Vigilante, so I want to give the right puzzle pieces at the right time along the way,” he teased. “When he does find out for sure, it’s very cool.”
