Marc Guggenheim Was Not Given The Heads Up On Arrow’s Flash Return

In 2023, Stephen Amell and David Ramsey returned to the roles of Oliver and Diggle, respectively, in a final-season episode of The Flash, and surprisingly, Arrow’s longtime showrunner Marc Guggenheim has revealed (via his excellent Substack) that he was never given a heads-up, nor has he seen the actual episode.

The reveal came as an answer to a fan question in this week’s column.

“To be completely honest, I haven’t watched the episode. I’d had to find out that Oliver and Diggle were going to be on the show from Deadline.com,” Guggenheim answered. “The Flash showrunner hadn’t even paid me the courtesy of a heads up. It was particularly disappointing because I’d always been above board and forthright with him when we worked on the crossovers together and I had — foolishly, perhaps — expected the same consideration in return.”
