While it has been fantastic to have Manu Bennett back as Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke in Arrow Season 6, it seems that the character might have to go back to the toy box.

Arrow Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim talked about some of the limitations involving characters like Deathstroke and the Suicide Squad during an interview at the ACE Comic Con, and it sounds like Deathstroke is off limits again.

“These are DC’s characters,” Guggenheim said honestly. “We’re just renting them, so we use the characters that they tell us we can use when we can use them, and we work around whatever limitations where that places us.”

“For a time they were saying ‘you can’t use Deathstroke’, and then that changed and we were able to have Slade Wilson back on the show, and now we’re back to ‘you can’t use him’,” Guggenheim recalled, pointing to a feature film version that is played by Joe Manganiello who recently made a cameo appearance at the end of another DC film.

“There’s these intervals, and we try to take advantage of these opportunities when we have them,” Guggenheim said.

You can watch the interview video below. It’s also interesting to see Guggenheim talking about the possibility of using The Question (Vic Sage) and how limitations might get in the way of that.
