Summary:

On the island, Yao Fei brings Edward Fyers back to the cave and tells Oliver that Fyers has a plane. Fyers reveals to Oliver that the island was used as a Chinese military prison and Yao Fei was one of two criminals not disposed of. As the three of them walk through the jungle, Deathstroke and his men attack, taking Yao Fei hostage.

Adam Hunt is murdered in a style reminiscent of The Hood’s, but Detective Lance finds that the arrows and motives don’t match. Oliver sends Lance a phone and calls to say he’s innocent and needs an arrow out of evidence. After he is kicked off the case, Lance calls back with where to find the arrow. Felicity Smoak gives Oliver the address of a warehouse where a company named Sagittarius, Latin for “the archer,” shipped these arrows. Oliver checks it out and narrowly escapes being blown up inside.

Thea admits to Oliver that the Queens have forsaken Christmas the past five years. Oliver announces to his family that he will throw a Christmas party. Tommy brings Laurel as his plus one. Moira and Walter are upset with one another, each for lying about the other’s involvement with the list. Diggle informs Oliver that the other archer has taken hostages.

Oliver frees the hostages and has a serious fight with the archer, who has been killing people Oliver crossed off the list. Oliver learns that the man who authored the list wants him dead. Ending up concussed on the pavement, Oliver is brought to the hospital by Diggle. The dark archer reveals himself as Malcolm Merlyn. Walter is abducted because of his knowledge, while Malcolm tells Moira that in six months, the city will be the way “the organization” envisioned it.

Quotes:

Oliver: I think the vigilante needs a better code name than “The Hood” or “The Hood Guy.”
Malcolm Merlyn: I agree. How about Green Arrow?
Oliver: Lame.

Detective Lance (to Arrow): I’m trading away just about everything I believe in here because that’s the only way I’ve got to get this bastard. Now, you’ve got ‘til Christmas, and then copy-cat or not, I’m coming after you.

Diggle: So is this guy trying to frame you or call you out?
Oliver: Either way, I need to find him.

Tommy: Merry Christmas, sir. How are you?
Detective Lance: Proficient with firearms.

Walter: I thought I could forget about it. Go back to the way things were. But you told me too many lies, Moira. You embezzled money from the company, salvaged the Queen’s Gambit. Why Moira? What was it all for?
Moira: For leverage.
Walter: Against who? Against who?
Moira: People you’ve made very angry.
Walter: Well, then let me help you fight them.
Moira: I can’t fight them. I am them. I have tried so hard to convince myself that I’m not, and loving you, you were my salvation.
Walter: Moira, Moira, whatever you’ve done and whoever these people are, the time for lies is over. You need to tell me exactly what’s going on.

Moira: What does it matter now? What’s done is done.
Malcolm Merlyn: No, Moira, it’s just beginning.

Oliver: When I confront somebody on the list, I tell them that they failed this city. But tonight it was me who failed.
Diggle: Oliver, five hostages are home tonight with their families enjoying the holidays because of you. This guy, the other archer, he’ll get his and you’ll give it to him.
Oliver: …I think there’s someone else out there. Someone who’s more of a danger than the archer. And I am going to take him down.
