Another DCU Female To Face The Arrow: The Huntress Is Coming!

Craig Byrne August 21, 2012 4

Arrow is not taking its time bringing characters from the larger DC Comics landscape into the show.

EW.com has revealed today that Australian actress Jessica De Gouw has landed the role of The Huntress. Her first appearance should come around episode 6, and she is expected to be around for multiple episodes.

The EW piece incorrectly says the Huntress has been around since 1947; actually, the character first appeared in 1977. Originally envisioned as the daughter of Batman and Catwoman; the “Post-Crisis” origins of the character reimagined her as Helena Bertinelli, the daughter of a crime boss.

Here’s what the casting breakdown had to say about the character:

“Helena is a potential love interest for Oliver Queen; a fellow vigilante, set on destroying her father’s organized crime empire. But Helena’s blind pursuit of revenge will put her on a collision course with the Arrow.”

Arrow Episode 6 should air in November.

Hopefully we will see another JLA team up or at least members from the Justice League like Green Lantern.

The first Huntress was Paula brook(Tigress) who lives on the Earth 2 along with her husband The Sportmaster become the foe of Justice Society of America. The second one was the daughter of the Golden-age Batman/Catwoman. Then came along the third one who was the daughter of criminal family. Earth 2 came back and the fourth one belong to the Wayne family again. I can’t wait to see the debut of the new TV version of the Huntress. I just hope that she will be equal to Green Arrow.

Amusing in the latest DC Comics’ World Finest series she’s actually the daughter of her Earth’s Batman and she was left stranded in another Earth following her father’s death which insured the defeat of the Apokolips invasion of her Earth.
I’d like that they’re more likely to use the Helena Bertinelli character from Batman Brave and the Bold or JLU depending on which show you remember best!
